FAQ Pesticide and Equipment Issues

How do I get an item added to the equipment/pesticide list and assigned a National Stock Number (NSN)?

The procedure is described in “BugByte #10” Briefly: A current DoD Pest Management Professional (PMP) must sponsor the item in an issue paper before the appropriate AFPMB Committee. After review and discussion, the committee can recommend a National Stock Number (NSN) be issued. The AFPMB Council must officially approve the committee’s recommendation before an NSN can be assigned. NOTE: Any such NSN item must be supported by enough demand by the DoD or it might lose that NSN at the next periodic NSN review.

Where can I find specific information about a pesticide (substitution, environmental concerns, MSDS, etc.)

Specific pesticide information, including labels and MSDSs, can be found on the DoD approved pesticide list.  The DoD Pesticide Hotline provides the most current information regarding all DoD approved pesticides. This is a service provided by the U.S. Public Health Command.

Where can I find the latest on DoD-approved equipment and consumables?

The AFPMB maintains updated information on all pesticide management equipment and pesticides within the Department of Defense (DoD). Our DoD Standard Pesticides and Pest Control Equipment page will provide you with numerous resources.
